What does the name “Upside Down Movement” mean?

For more than a decade, our founder, Brandon, alongside his wife Anna, lived in Minneapolis’ Phillips neighborhood, seeking to inspire intentional kindness. Rather than distancing themselves from the challenges of city life, they immersed themselves in the daily experience. They spent time developing relationships with people often times stuck in poverty, generational struggles, and fractured family structures.

The longer they lived in the environment, the more they recognized the tremendous needs AND the tremendous potential all around them.

From those roots, The Upside Down Movement was born.

UDM is built to flip the system that some people feel is working against them on its head; disrupting cycles of poverty, struggle, and self-defeat. It’s how we’re partnering with people on our team and throughout the community to establish momentum in their lives by helping them find vision and gain traction. The Upside Down Movement has built our business on a desire to see hard-working, capable people develop career-building and life-enriching skills in the people who represent our company.

The Upside Down Movement provides outdoor maintenance services for homes and businesses. In Minnesota’s warm months, we’re doing everything from mowing and fertilizing to pressure washing and landscape design. In the icy weather, we’re doing snow removal and ice treatment (as well as liquid brine) as well as a range of other winterizing tasks.

We know that people have a lot of options when it comes to outdoor services. We also know that the work we do is about much, much more than greener grass or cleaner driveways.

We’re looking to plant good roots in our communities.
